Altano is made by the Symington family from their own Douro Valley vineyards. They are committed to natural winemaking traditions and to sustainable viticulture. The dramatic mountain vineyards of the Douro with their warm summers produce this fine wine, with smooth, plummy, red berry and spicy flavours. Altano takes its name from the warm air currents used by birds to glide over the Douro Valley. At dusk, the call of one of these, the Scops Owl, is almost the only break in the silence.
